Night comes in: the director of Sunset on his vision of a crumbling world order in pre-World War I Budapest
For our latest Film Comment Talk, Academy Award-winning director László Nemes sat down with FC Editor-in-Chief Nicolas Rapold on Saturday, February 9 to discuss Nemes’s Sunset, which opened Film Comment Selects earlier that week. The film evokes a vision of a world order on the verge of violent collapse, telling the story of an orphaned young woman, Irisz, searching for her mysterious brother in the nightmarish labyrinth of pre-World War I Budapest. Sunset is in theaters on March 22.
