Trailer: Michel Gondry’s Mood Indigo

A marriage made in heaven: Michel Gondry's adaptation of Boris Vian's L'Écume des Jours

Audrey Tautou, Omar Sy, and Romain Duris star in Mood Indigo, Michel Gondry's adaptation of Boris Vian's fantastical 1946 love story (also known in English as Froth on the Daydream and Foam of the Daze). Gondry's signature visual style is undoubtedly inspired by Vian's worlds of shapeshifting buildings and emotion-sensitive objects. For the uninitated, the story concerns Colin (Duris), wealthy inventor of the pianocktail, who falls madly in love with Chloé (Tautou). However, she suffers from a water lily in the lung, and requires to be surrounded constantly by flowers, a financially prohibitive cure. Meanwhile Chick, Colin's pal who has shared in his wealth, becomes increasingly obsessed by the philosopher Jean-Sol Partre. Terrible puns and tragedy abound:
